Installation Instructions for Honda Accord, Acura TL, and Acura TSX

Specifications:

• Max Gross Trailer Weight: 2,000 lb. (908 kg)
• Max Tongue Weight: 200 lb. (90.8 kg)
• Note: Do not exceed the towing vehicle manufacturer’s rating.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Lower Exhaust:

   • Remove two (2) rubber isolators on single exhaust models and four (4) rubber isolators on dual exhaust models.
   • Use lubricant or soapy water on the metal hanger rods and rubber isolators for easier removal.

2. Remove Heat Shield and Underbody Panel:

   • Detach heat shield(s) and underbody panel (if present). Save the panel and fasteners for reinstallation.

3. Prepare Access Hole:

   • Verify if the spacer and carriage bolt fit through the access hole. If not, enlarge the hole using a file or by prying with a wrench.
   • Enlarge only enough to accommodate the hardware.

4. Feed Bolts and Spacers:

   • Using the provided pull wires, guide spacers and carriage bolts into position through the access hole.
   • Leave the pull wire attached. For easier insertion, do not engage the bolt and spacer while feeding them into the frame.

5. Install U-Bolt on Tow Hook:

   • Hang the U-bolt onto the tow hook in one of the two designated positions.

6. Position Hitch:

   • Raise the hitch into position with the U-bolt in place and feed the pull wires through the side arm holes.

7. Attach Fasteners:

   • Secure the hitch using conical washers and hex nuts. Avoid pushing the fasteners back into the frame rails.

8. Tighten Fasteners:

   • Torque all 3/8” GR5 fasteners to 30 Lb.-Ft. (41 N*M).
   • Torque all 7/16” GR5 fasteners to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M).

9. Trim Underbody Panel (if needed):

   • Obtain vehicle owner’s approval before trimming the panel. Follow the dimensions shown in the diagram for trimming.
   • Slide the hitch bracket through the cut-out region of the panel.

10. Reinstall Components:

    • Raise the underbody panel into position and reinstall fasteners.
    • Reattach heat shield(s) and trim minimally around new fasteners if necessary.
    • Reattach exhaust. For additional clearance, bend the exhaust hanger bracket downward.

Safety Notes:

• Regularly inspect all fasteners and the hitch ball to ensure they are securely tightened.
• If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
• Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
• Always observe safety precautions and wear eye protection when working beneath the vehicle.
• Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for Honda Accord

Part Numbers:

Tools Required:

• Trim Panel Remover
• Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
• Phillips Head Screwdriver
• Test Probe

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Open the Trunk:

   • Temporarily remove the rear threshold plate.
   • Partially remove the felt trunk liner behind the taillights.

2. Locate the Vehicle’s Wiring Harness:

   • On both the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle, locate the taillight wiring harness.
   • Separate the vehicle's wiring connectors, being careful not to break the locking tabs. Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

3. Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:

   • Attach both ends of the T-Connector containing the yellow, brown, and red wires to the driver’s side.
   • Ensure connectors are fully inserted and locking tabs are secure.

4. Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:

   • Route the T-Connector end with the green wire to the passenger side, behind the panels and along the threshold.
   • Repeat Step 2 for the T-Connector with the green wire.

5. Ground the White Wire:

   • Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector.
   • Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area.
   • Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

   Caution: Verify the area behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces.

6. Connect the Power Wire:

   • Inside the vehicle, connect the black 12-gauge wire to the black wire from the T-Connector black box using the supplied yellow butt connector.
   • Route the black wire through a grommet and along the exterior frame or follow the existing wiring to the engine compartment up to the battery.
   • Avoid areas that may pinch, cut, or break the wire.

   Warning: Avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or any hazardous points.

7. Connect to the Vehicle Battery:

   • Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
   • Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
   • Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable and secure.
   • Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the yellow butt connector.

   Warning: Follow all warnings and cautions related to the tow vehicle’s battery.

8. Reconnect the Battery and Test:

   • Reconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
   • Install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
   • Test the installation with a test light or trailer.

9. Mount the T-Connector Black Box Module:

   • Locate a flat, out-of-the-way surface and mount the black box module to prevent damage or rattling.

10. Secure the Wiring Harness:

    • Use the provided cable ties to secure the wiring harness.
    • Avoid areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wires.

11. Reassemble the Vehicle:

    • Replace the carpet and any other clips or panels removed during installation.
    • Ensure no wires are pinched or damaged.

12. Store the 4-Flat Connector:

    • Store the 4-flat connector in the trunk area when not in use.

Specifications:

• Max. stop/turn light: 2 per side (4.2 amps)
• Max. tail lights: 7.5 amps
