Installation Instructions for Electric Trailer Brake Control Wiring Adapter

Tools Required:
- Trim Panel Remover
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Wire Cutters
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Locate the Brake Control Harness Connector
- Ensure the vehicle is off and the keys are removed from the ignition.
- Locate the green 4-pin connector underneath the driver's seat.
- This connector will match the adapter’s connector.
- Note: Removal of the driver’s seat may be required for access.
Step 2: Connect the Brake Control Adapter
- Plug the brake control adapter into the vehicle’s electric brake control harness connector.
- Follow the brake control manufacturer’s instructions for wiring and mounting the brake controller.
Step 3: Route the Adapter
- Determine a suitable routing path for the adapter to exit through the bottom of the dash.
- Ensure the adapter and wires are not pinched or exposed to sharp edges.
Step 4: Finalize Installation
- Follow all brake control manufacturer’s instructions to complete the system setup.
- Perform the required test procedures as outlined in the brake controller manual.
Step 5: Reinstall All Removed Components
- Reinstall any parts removed during the installation, such as:
- Driver’s seat (if applicable)
- Fasteners and trim panels
- Ensure all fasteners are securely installed in their original positions.
Notes:
- Vehicles not equipped with an OEM trailer tow package will not have the 4-pin green connector present.

- Maximum Capacity: 4 axles / 8 brakes (24 amps).

Installation Instructions:
Mounting the Unit:
- Choose a Suitable Location:
- Ensure a secure, solid surface.
- Ensure the unit is within easy reach of the driver.
- Verify the area behind the panel is clear.
- Mark and Drill Holes:
- Use the bracket as a template to mark hole locations.
- Drill two 1/8" diameter holes.
- Attach the Bracket:
- Secure the bracket using two self-tapping screws provided.
- Avoid over-tightening to prevent damage to the holes.
- Mount the Brake Control Unit:
- Attach the control unit to the bracket with the remaining screws.
Wiring and Connections:
- Black Wire: Connect to the vehicle's power supply.
- Red Wire: Connect to the stoplight signal.
- White Wire: Connect to the vehicle's ground.
- Blue Wire: Connect to the trailer brakes.
Initial Setup:
- With the trailer connected, press and hold the brake pedal.
- Adjust the Output (Gain) Control to approximately 2.0 using the digital display.
- Adjust the Sync Control to a setting of 4°.
- Test the brake application by driving in an open area and using the manual slide control.
Sync and Output (Gain) Adjustments:
- Sync Control: Adjust the aggressiveness of trailer braking.
- Sync settings range from 0° (least aggressive) to 9° (most aggressive).
- Output (Gain) Control: Adjust the maximum power delivered to the brakes.
- Output ranges from 0 to 10, with 10 being maximum braking power.
Testing and Fine-Tuning:
- Conduct a test drive at low speeds in a clear area.
- Use the Manual Slide Control to apply trailer brakes and adjust the Gain as needed.
- Verify smooth stops without jerking or locking the brakes.
- Adjust Sync settings for road conditions and driver preferences.
Maintenance:
- Regularly inspect all connections and wires for damage or wear.
- Keep the unit clean and free of debris.
- Periodically check and tighten all mounting screws.
