Installation Instructions for Honda CR-V

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare Bolt and Plate Assembly:

   • Thread the bolt leader onto the 1 3/4” carriage bolt.
   • Insert the bolt leader through the hole in the reinforcing plate.

2. Fishwire the Bolt Assembly:

   • Feed the carriage bolt (head first), followed by the reinforcing plate, into the access hole in the bottom of the frame.
   • Carefully pull the bolt leader until the bolt and plate are positioned correctly. Repeat for the other side.

3. Install Hitch:

   • Raise the hitch into position on the vehicle, ensuring not to push the bolt assemblies back into the frame.
   • Remove the bolt leaders and install the conical washers and nuts.

4. Secure Tie-Down Hook:

   • Install the 2” carriage bolt along with the square hole spacer, round hole spacer, conical washer, and nut through the vehicle’s tie-down hook and the hitch’s mounting tab. Follow the sequence shown in the illustration.

5. Tighten Fasteners:

   • Torque all 1/2” fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M).

6. Final Check:

   • Verify that all fasteners and the hitch ball are securely tightened.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

General Instructions for All Vehicles:

1. Remove the tape securing the wiring harness connector from the wiring loom.
2. Attach the T-Connector adapter to the vehicle’s wiring connector.
   • Ensure the T-Connector adapter is fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
3. Secure the black box with a screw or cable tie (provided).
   • Tuck any excess wiring behind the access panel before securing it into place.
4. Re-install any plastic trim panels, screws, or brackets that were removed for installation.
5. Test the installation with a test light or trailer.

Vehicle-Specific Instructions:

Acura CL, RL, TL, Integra, Honda Accord, Prelude:

• Unscrew the knob securing the access panel on the driver’s side of the trunk.
• Remove the access panel to expose the vehicle’s wiring harness and connector.

Isuzu Oasis, Honda Odyssey (1995-1998):

• Remove the rear access panel inside the van behind the driver’s side tail light to expose the vehicle’s wiring harness and connector.

Honda Odyssey (1999-Current):

1. Open the rear tailgate and remove the driver’s side cargo bracket screw.
2. Carefully pull back the trim panel to expose the vehicle’s wiring harness and connector.

Honda CR-V (1997-2001):

1. Remove the rear driver’s side speaker and cover.
   • The speaker will be held in place with three screws.
2. Locate the vehicle connector secured to the speaker wires.

Honda CR-V (2002-Current):

1. Open the rear tailgate and remove the cargo door on the floor.
2. Remove the storage container and rear threshold.
3. Unscrew the driver’s side cargo bracket and trim panel screws to access the harness.

Acura MDX (2001-Current):

1. Open the rear tailgate and remove the cargo door on the floor.
2. Remove two clips inside the storage area on the threshold.
3. Carefully pry off the threshold to access the wiring harness connector.

Honda Pilot (2003-Current):

• Open the rear tailgate and carefully pry the threshold to remove it.
• Locate the connector under the threshold plate on the driver’s side.

Honda Element (2003-Current):

1. Open the rear tailgate and remove the cargo door on the floor.

2. Remove the screws holding the spring-loaded hinge cover.

3. Remove three plastic clips and five screws from the passenger side trim panel to access the wiring harness.
