Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Heat Shield:
- Remove the heat shield on 2002 and earlier models.

Fishwire Bolts:
- Fishwire the carriage bolts and spacer blocks through the access hole at the end of the frame.
- Keep carriage bolts and blocks independent while fishwiring.

Raise the Hitch:
- Lift the hitch into position and secure it with conical toothed washers and hex nuts.
- Ensure fasteners are not pushed back into the frame.

Trim Heat Shield:
- Trim the heat shield as per the provided diagram.

Reinstall Heat Shield:
- Reattach the heat shield using existing fasteners. Over the hitch bracket, use the supplied M6 hex bolt and flat washer.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque M6 x 1.00 fasteners to 10 lb-ft (14 N·m).
- Torque all 7/16-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m).
Optional Installation with OEM Class 2 Hitch/Bumper:
- Remove the heat shield on 2002 and earlier models.
- Raise the hitch into position and loosely install hex bolts into existing weldnuts.
- Using the hitch as a template, drill a 7/16" hole through the center attachment slot at a slight angle toward the center of the vehicle.
- Lower the aftermarket hitch and enlarge the drilled hole to 1/2".
- Open the slot forward of the foremost bolt hole to accept a 1" x 3" block.
- Fishwire the block and carriage bolt through the access hole into the drilled hole.
- Raise the hitch into position and secure with new fasteners.
- Tighten all fasteners:
- Torque 7/16-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m).
- Torque M12 x 1.75 CL10.9 fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m).
Torque Specifications:
- M6 x 1.00: 10 lb-ft (14 N·m)
- 7/16-14 GR5: 50 lb-ft (68 N·m)
- M12 x 1.75 CL10.9: 75 lb-ft (102 N·m)

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Tow Vehicle Inputs - Determination:
- Disconnect and isolate the vehicle's negative battery terminal.
- Warning: Read and follow all warnings and instructions on the tow vehicle's battery.
- Splice the tow harness input wires to the vehicle as determined.
- Caution: Use appropriate gauge wire splices. Blue taps are for 16-18 gauge wires only.
Harness Installation:
- Determine the mounting location of the module and secure it using the double-sided tape provided.
- Warning: Mount the module with the epoxy side pointed towards the ground to prevent water buildup.
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the module, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole to secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or personal injury.
- Route the power wire to the vehicle’s positive battery terminal. Use the provided fuse holder, butt connector, and ring terminal to connect to the battery.
- Do not insert the 15 amp fuse yet.
- Caution: Ensure the module is connected to a constant power source and avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or pinch points.
Completion:
- Secure the harness with cable ties provided to prevent damage or rattling.
- Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable.
- Insert the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder and close the cap.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Check each function independently and in combination.
