Installation Instructions for Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 Pickups

- Pliers
- Wrenches: 3/4", 15/16"
- Drill Bits: None
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Lower the vehicle's spare tire (if required).
- Use pliers to squeeze the tabs holding the center portion of the plastic step tread to the impact bar (4 tabs – 2 on each end) and lift the step tread.
- Raise the hitch into position.
- Install 5/8” carriage bolts down through holes between the bumper and the impact bar. Install the lock washer and nut (hand-tighten only until all fasteners are in place).
- Fishwire 1/2” carriage bolts and 1/4 x 1 x 3 spacer blocks through the end of the impact bar and into holes on the bottom surface of the impact bar. Install conical toothed washers and nuts.
- Tighten all 1/2-13 GR5 fasteners with a torque wrench to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m).
- Tighten all 5/8-11 GR5 fasteners with a torque wrench to 150 lb-ft (203 N·m).
- Note: Tightening will cause the 5/8” carriage bolt to draw into the impact bar holes. Ensure the bolt is completely seated.
- Raise the spare tire (if required).
- Tap lightly on the plastic step tread to secure it to the bumper.

- (2) 1/4 x 1 x 3 Spacer Blocks
- (2) 5/8” Lock Washers

- (2) 5/8-11 Hex Nuts
- (2) 1/2-13 Hex Nuts
- (2) 1/2” Pull Wires
Safety Notes:
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Follow all safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle, and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes using a torch.
