Installation Instructions for Honda Ridgeline

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower the Exhaust and Remove Heat Shield:
- Detach the exhaust from the rubber isolators to lower it.
- Remove the muffler heat shield.

Raise Hitch into Position:
- Lift the hitch into place as shown in the diagram.

Install Fasteners:
- Insert and secure the six (6) M12 fasteners into the frame rails.
- Insert and secure the two (2) M10 fasteners into the bumper structure.

Reinstall Heat Shield and Exhaust:
- Reattach the muffler heat shield and raise the exhaust back into position.
Hardware List:
- (6) M12 x 1.25 x 35mm CL8.8 Hex Bolts
- (2) M10 x 1.25 x 30mm CL8.8 Hex Bolts
- (6) 1/2" Conical Toothed Washers
- (2) 7/16" Conical Toothed Washers
Torque Specifications:
- Tighten all M10 CL8.8 fasteners to 42 lb-ft (57 N·m).
- Tighten all M12 CL8.8 fasteners to 76 lb-ft (103 N·m).
Safety Notes:
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Follow all safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle, and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Rear Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the tailgate and carefully pry the taillight housings away from the vehicle to avoid breaking alignment tabs.

Locate the Vehicle’s Wiring Harness:
- On both the driver’s and passenger’s sides of the vehicle, locate the taillight wiring harness near each taillight housing.
- Disconnect the connectors carefully, ensuring no damage to the locking tabs.
- Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

Install the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Plug the T-Connector harness containing the yellow wire between the vehicle’s mating connectors.
- Ensure the T-Connector is fully inserted and the locking tabs are secure.

Route the T-Connector Wiring:
- Starting at the driver’s side taillight pocket, route the T-Connector harness containing the green wire and the 4-flat connector down through the opening between the bumper and body.
- Route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and the green wire to the passenger-side taillight pocket through a similar opening.
- Warning: Avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or any points that could pinch or damage the wire.

Install the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Repeat step 3 on the passenger side using the T-Connector end with the green wire.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as the vehicle frame or cross member.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid vehicle damage or personal injury.

Mount the T-Connector Black Box:
- Use the provided double-sided tape to mount the T-Connector black box on the driver’s side.
- Secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness with the provided cable ties, avoiding areas that could pinch or cut the wire.

Reinstall the Taillight Assemblies:
- Position the vehicle wiring harness between the taillight housing and the vehicle body.
- Reinstall the taillight housings securely.

Test the Installation:
- Test and verify the T-Connector functionality using a test light or trailer.
- Ensure all connections are complete for the T-Connector to function properly.
