Installation Instructions for Ford Edge Sport

Wiring Access Location:

Tools Required:
- Wrenches: 3/4", 5.5mm or 7/32, 8mm
- Additional Equipment: 1/2" Pull Wire (provided), Tin Snips, Lubricant or Soapy Water
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Lower the exhaust system at the rubber isolators (3 places), leaving the rubber isolators on the vehicle. Spray lubricant on the metal hanger rods and rubber isolators to ease removal. Support the system during the process to prevent the muffler from falling under its own weight.
- Disconnect the fascia center support (1 screw) and carefully push it rearward toward the impact bar. Reinstall the screw afterward.
- Remove both heat shields (3 screws each) and a plastic insert from each side. Return the screws to the vehicle owner.
- Trim both heat shields as shown in Figure 2. Leave enough material to sandwich between the frame and hitch.
- Using the kinked pull wire method (Figure 3), attach the carriage bolt and block to the pull wire. Feed the forward fasteners into position on both frame rails using the access hole at the end of each rail. Use the same method to feed rearward fasteners into position. Ensure spacers sit flat on the frame rails and not on existing weld nuts.
- Reinstall the trimmed heat shields using the remaining inboard fasteners and plastic inserts.
- Raise the hitch into position over the exhaust, sandwiching the heat shield between the hitch and the frame rail.
- Loosely attach the fasteners as shown, center the hitch on the vehicle, and tighten all fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N*m).
- Raise the exhaust system back into position at the three rubber isolators.
