General Instructions:

Raise Hitch Into Position:
- Position the hitch so that the driver’s side bracket is inboard of the tie-down hook and the passenger’s side bracket is outboard of the tie-down hook.
- The placement of the block with two holes varies by model (see Figure 1).

Install Carriage Bolts and Blocks:
- Insert the bolts and blocks through the vehicle’s tie-down hooks. Loosely install flat washers and hex nuts.

Fishwire Carriage Bolt:
- Use the fishwire to guide the carriage bolt and block through the end of the frame rail into the existing hole in the frame.

Install Remaining Fasteners:
- Secure the remaining fasteners as shown in the diagram.
Hatchback Models:

Drill Holes:
- Use the hitch as a template to drill a 1/2” hole at the forward-most end of the slot in the side bracket on the passenger side.

Fishwire Carriage Bolt:
- Guide the carriage bolt and block through the access hole on the bottom of the frame rail.

Install Remaining Fasteners:
- Secure the remaining fasteners as shown in the diagram.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Use a torque wrench to tighten all 1/2” fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M).

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Using a circuit tester, carefully probe one wire at a time to determine vehicle functions.
- Caution: Do not probe across two wires or across a wire and vehicle structure to avoid damaging electronic components.

Disconnect and isolate the vehicle's negative (-) battery terminal.

Attach the trailer wiring to the vehicle as shown in the illustration using splices.

Locate a suitable grounding point.

Mount the circuit-protected converter near the left tail light in the trunk or on the frame rail under the vehicle.
- Mount with the wiring directed downward or sideways if downward is not possible.

Reconnect the vehicle's negative (-) battery terminal.

- Attach the ground lead of a circuit tester to the exposed ground terminal of the 4-flat end.
