Lower Muffler(s):

Prepare the Trunk:
- Inside the trunk, remove the spare tire cover.

- Remove the spare tire or storage bin for better access to the trunk floor. Use a screwdriver to release the retainer washer and pull the bin upwards.
- Roll back the carpet and padding to expose the trunk pan.
-
Position Hitch:
- Carefully raise the hitch into position to avoid scratching the fascia.
- For dual exhaust models, raise one bracket between the trunk pan and exhaust, and slide the other bracket over the second exhaust.
- Align the rear edge of the hitch brackets flush with the frame end panel.
-
Mark and Drill Holes:
- Using the hitch as a template, mark and center punch two (2) holes on each side.
- Lower the hitch and drill 1/8” pilot holes through the trunk pan. Adjust alignment if needed, then enlarge the holes to 1/2".
-
Install Plates and Bolts:
- Place the mounting plates over the drilled holes inside the trunk.
- Insert carriage bolts through the plates and trunk pan. Trim the carpet padding underneath if needed for the plate to sit flat.
- Important: Seal all drilled holes to prevent exhaust fumes from entering the trunk.
-
Attach Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position and secure it using lock washers and hex nuts on the carriage bolts.
- Torque all 7/16"-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M).
-
Reassemble Trunk Components:
- Roll the carpet and padding back into place.
