Remove Plastic Supports:
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew plastic screws while applying pressure on the opposite side. Remove both pieces of plastic from the support straps.

Trim Fascia Tab (Elantra and Rio 5 only):
- Trim the center fascia tab as shown in Figure 2. Obtain vehicle owner’s approval before cutting.

Lower Exhaust:
- Remove the rubber exhaust hanger to lower the vehicle’s exhaust system.

Position Hitch (Passenger Side First):
- Lift the passenger side of the hitch into position, placing the crosstube over the tailpipe. Rotate the side bracket into place on the outside of the frame rail. Gently pull the fascia out of the way to assist installation (refer to Figure 2).

Position Hitch (Driver’s Side):
- Lift the driver’s side of the hitch into position on the outside of the frame rail and in front of the bulkhead. Pull the fascia out of the way to assist installation.

Install Fasteners:
- Install the fasteners as shown in Figure 1. Hand-tighten all bolts before fully securing.

Align and Tighten Hitch:
- Push the hitch toward the rear of the vehicle to align it properly. Tighten all fasteners to the specified torque settings:
- M10 CL8.8 bolts: 42 Lb.-Ft. (57 N*M)
- M12 CL8.8 bolts: 76 Lb.-Ft. (103 N*M)

Reattach Exhaust:
- Secure the rubber muffler hanger back into place.
