Step-by-Step Instructions:
-
Remove the Taillights:
- Open the rear door. Begin with the driver’s side by removing two bolts and carefully pulling the taillight housing rearward away from the vehicle, avoiding damage to the alignment tabs. Repeat on the passenger side.
-
Disconnect the Wiring Harness:
- Locate the taillight wiring harness on both the driver and passenger sides. Disconnect the connectors, ensuring the locking tabs are not damaged. Clean all connectors to ensure a secure connection.
-
Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- On the passenger side, plug the T-One® T-Connector harness containing the green wire between the vehicle’s mating connectors.
-
Route the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector harness containing the yellow wire behind the fascia and door hinge bracket.

Caution: Verify the area behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

-
Mount the Black Box:
- Clean a flat area behind the passenger-side taillight assembly with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water.
- Mount the black box in this area using the provided double-sided tape, ensuring it is positioned with the epoxy side facing downward to prevent water accumulation.
-
Connect the Power Wire:
- Locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-One® T-Connector black box. Connect it to the black power wire on the black box using the yellow butt connector.
- Route the black wire through a grommet and along the exterior frame or follow existing wiring along the thresholds to the engine compartment, avoiding areas that may pinch or damage the wire.
-
Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
- Attach the ring terminal to the positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black wire using the yellow butt connector.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
Warning: Follow all printed warnings on the tow vehicle’s battery.
