Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Remove Forward Underbody Panel:
- Use a 10mm socket to remove (19) screws and flat washers securing the forward underbody panel to the rear underbody panel.
- Note: There are (4) screws located horizontally in the wheel well area, (2) per side.
- Caution: Do not remove the (3) forward-most screws from the panel. Support the panel as needed.
2. Remove Hitch Access Panel:
- Use a flat head screwdriver to remove (2) push pin rivets, then remove the hitch access panel.
3. Remove Rear Fascia:
- a. Use a T30 Torx bit to remove (2) screws from the rear underbody panel.
- b. Use a 10mm socket to remove (2) flange nuts from the wheel well liner on both sides.
- c. Use a flat head screwdriver to remove (2) push pin rivets from the wheel well liner on both sides.
- d. Use a T25 Torx bit to remove (1) screw vertically located behind the wheel well liner on both sides.
- e. Use a plastic trim tool to unclasp tabs and gently remove the lower wheel well trim.
- f. Open the rear liftgate and remove the (2) plastic liftgate bump stops.
- g. Use a plastic trim tool to lift the molding near the bump stop. Use a 10mm socket to remove (1) screw per side holding the fascia.
- h. Remove the fascia starting at the edges near the wheel wells and gently pull outward. Disconnect the (2) wiring harnesses and set the fascia aside.
4. Remove Bumper Beam:
- Use a 15mm socket to remove (8) flange nuts (4 per side). Remove the bumper beam and return it to the vehicle owner.
5. Trim Fascia:
- Use a tape measure, marker, and utility knife to cut a notch approximately 3-1/2" wide x 2-1/2" deep on the lower fascia underbody panel, centered on the vehicle.
6. Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position, aligning the holes in the hitch with the studs on the end panel.
- Loosely reinstall the (8) existing hex flange nuts onto the bumper studs (4 per side).
- Use a torque wrench to tighten all CL10 hex flange nuts to 42 lb-ft (57 N·m).
7. Reinstall Components:
- Reinstall the fascia, wiring harnesses, trim, and other components removed in previous steps, using the original hardware.
8. Trim Hitch Access Panel:
- Use a tape measure, marker, and utility knife to cut a notch approximately 3-1/2" wide x 4-1/2" deep in the hitch access panel. Return it to the vehicle owner if not installed.
Safety Notes:
- Regularly inspect the hitch and all fasteners for secure attachment.
- Plug any holes in the trunk pan or body panels if the hitch is removed to prevent water or exhaust entry.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Always wear safety glasses and follow all safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle.
- Do not cut holes with a torch.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Tow Vehicle Inputs - Determination:
- Disconnect and isolate the vehicle's negative battery terminal.
- Warning: Read and follow all warnings and instructions on the tow vehicle's battery.
- Splice the tow harness input wires to the vehicle as determined.
- Caution: Use appropriate gauge wire splices. Blue taps are for 16-18 gauge wires only.
Harness Installation:
- Determine the mounting location of the module and secure it using the double-sided tape provided.
- Warning: Mount the module with the epoxy side pointed towards the ground to prevent water buildup.
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the module, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole to secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or personal injury.
- Route the power wire to the vehicle’s positive battery terminal. Use the provided fuse holder, butt connector, and ring terminal to connect to the battery.
- Do not insert the 15 amp fuse yet.
- Caution: Ensure the module is connected to a constant power source and avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or pinch points.
Completion:
- Secure the harness with cable ties provided to prevent damage or rattling.
- Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable.
- Insert the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder and close the cap.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Check each function independently and in combination.
