Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower Exhaust:
- Use an exhaust hanger removal tool to lower the muffler by removing the rearmost rubber hangers (one on the driver side and one on the passenger side).
- Support the exhaust to prevent damage.
- Spray lubricant or soapy water on the rubber hangers to ease removal.

Trim Heat Shield:
- Remove the four screws securing the heat shield.
- Trim the heat shield as shown in Figure 2 (Ford Escape) or Figure 3 (Lincoln Corsair).
- Return the screws and trimming area to the vehicle owner.
- Note: The heat shield can be trimmed without fully removing it.

Enlarge Access Hole:
- Use a die grinder to enlarge the access holes in the vehicle frame just enough to fit the 1/2" carriage bolts (both sides).

Trim Lower Fascia (Ford Escape Only):
- Using a tape measure, marker, and utility knife, measure, mark, and trim the lower fascia as shown in Figure 4.

Install Hitch:
- Tape the flat washer onto the front attachment holes of the frame rails.
- Using pull wires, feed the carriage bolts and spacers into the vehicle frame through the enlarged access holes.
- Leave the pull wires attached.
- Raise the hitch into position and guide the pull wires through the hitch bracket slots.
- Remove the pull wires and loosely install the conical washers (teeth side toward the hitch) and hex nuts onto the hitch.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Tighten all 1/2"-13 GR5 fasteners with a torque wrench to 75 ft-lbs (102 Nm).

Reinstall Exhaust:
- Raise the exhaust back into position and secure the hangers.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Tow Vehicle Inputs - Determination:
- Disconnect and isolate the vehicle's negative battery terminal.
- Warning: Read and follow all warnings and instructions on the tow vehicle's battery.
- Splice the tow harness input wires to the vehicle as determined.
- Caution: Use appropriate gauge wire splices. Blue taps are for 16-18 gauge wires only.
Harness Installation:
- Determine the mounting location of the module and secure it using the double-sided tape provided.
- Warning: Mount the module with the epoxy side pointed towards the ground to prevent water buildup.
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the module, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole to secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or personal injury.
- Route the power wire to the vehicle’s positive battery terminal. Use the provided fuse holder, butt connector, and ring terminal to connect to the battery.
- Do not insert the 15 amp fuse yet.
- Caution: Ensure the module is connected to a constant power source and avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or pinch points.
Completion:
- Secure the harness with cable ties provided to prevent damage or rattling.
- Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable.
- Insert the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder and close the cap.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Check each function independently and in combination.
