Installation Instructions for Mercedes Metris (2016-Current)

Tools Required:
- Ratchet
- Torque Wrench
- Safety Glasses
- Sockets: 16mm, 18mm
- 6" Socket Extension

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Tow Hook:
- Use a 16mm and 18mm socket to remove:
- (2) Short bolts
- (2) Long bolts
- (2) Flange nuts
- Remove the tow hook from the passenger side. Return all fasteners and the tow hook to the vehicle owner.
- Use a 16mm and 18mm socket to remove:

Position the Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position.
- Align the bracket holes with the outside frame rail holes.
- Insert the bolt (M12 x 1.75 x 110mm) and block (.375 x 1.50 x 2.00) through the frame rail holes.
- Secure loosely using the conical washers (1/2") and hex nuts (M12 x 1.75).

Tighten Fasteners:
- Use a torque wrench to tighten all M12 fasteners to 68 lb-ft (92 Nm).

Verify Installation:
- Ensure all fasteners are tightened to the correct torque specifications.
- Periodically check the hitch and ball mount for secure attachment.
Hardware List:
- (6) M12 x 1.75 x 110mm CL10.9 Bolts
- (6) .375 x 1.50 x 2.00 Spacer Blocks
- (6) 1/2" Conical Toothed Washers
- (6) M12 x 1.75 Hex Nuts
Safety Notes:
- Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Always wear safety glasses during installation.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
