- Torque Wrench
- Safety Glasses
- Sockets: 19 mm
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Unbolt Bolt Plates from Hitch:
- Remove the (1) M12 bolt and (1) M12 nut from the hitch.
- Retain the bolt and nut for reuse during hitch installation.
2. Remove Tow Hook:
- Remove the tow hook from the rear driver-side frame by uninstalling (5) existing M12 bolts (2 from the bottom and 3 from the inside).
- Return the bolts and tow hook to the vehicle owner.
3. Attach Hitch to Vehicle Frame:
- Raise the hitch into position and align the (3) holes on each hitch bracket with the (3) holes on each frame.
- Install (3) M12 bolts and (3) conical washers through the holes on each hitch bracket and into the weldnuts of the frame.
- Note: If additional clearance is required, loosen or lower the spare tire or exhaust.
4. Install Bolt Plates:
- Install (2) M12 bolts and (2) conical washers through the top (2) holes of each bolt plate.
- On each bolt, place (1) spacer, then thread the bolt into the weldnut in the frame.
- In the bottom (2) holes of each bolt plate and hitch bracket, thread (1) M12 bolt and (1) conical washer, then secure with (1) conical washer and (1) M12 nut.
5. Tighten All Fasteners:
- Torque all M12 CL 8.8 fasteners to 57 lb-ft (77 N·m).
- Torque all M12 CL 10.9 fasteners to 130 lb-ft (176 N·m).
Hardware List:
- 10 × Hex Bolt CL 8.8 (M12 × 1.25 × 35 mm)
- 4 × Hex Bolt CL 10.9 (M12 × 1.25 × 40 mm)
- 18 × Conical Washer (1/2")
- 4 × Spacer (.188 × 1.50" × 2.00")
- 4 × Hex Nut CL 10.9 (M12 × 1.25)
- 2 × Bolt Plate
Safety Notes:
- Always wear safety glasses during installation.
- Periodically check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the hitch ball are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball before use.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
