The REESE Towpower BRAKE-EVN brake controller offers advanced proportional braking by applying brake pressure to match the vehicles deceleration rate. Proportional braking gets you get smoother stops that traditional time based controls. The boost feature gives the ability to apply more initial braking at the onset of stopping when towing heavier loads. When adjusted properly for your load, proportional brake controls can even extend the life of your vehicles brakes. The large LED display is easy to see when adjusting the control to handle the weight of your loaded or unloaded trailer. The BRAKE-EVN brake control can handle up to brake 4 axles and offers a simple plug in installation option, so be sure to get the proper factory harness for your vehicle. The perfect choice for light or heavy trailer loads.

  • Hi,Thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your Reese brake controller.I spoke with Tekonsha and here are some insights that might help resolve the problem:Voltage Issue: It only takes a small amount of voltage to stop the wheel when the trailer is lifted. If you're experiencing a lack of braking at the maximum setting, it could indicate that the voltage isn't properly reaching the trailer axles, or the brakes are physically unable to engage.Brake Adjustment or Mechanical Issue: Although a local mechanic has adjusted the brakes, there could still be a mechanical problem with the trailer brakes themselves. If the brakes are not correctly adjusted or there is a mechanical issue, they won't function properly.Battery Voltage Output: At a setting of 10, the controller should be outputting the full battery voltage. If the brakes are not engaging even at this setting, it suggests a mechanical issue with the trailer brakes.Override Test: When driving with the trailer connected, use the manual override on the controller. Check what number the controller displays when the override is engaged. If the controller goes to 10 and the brakes are still insufficient, it indicates either a loss of voltage between the brake controller and the brake magnets, or a mechanical issue with the brakes. It's important to manage expectations regarding trailer brakes. Nine times out of ten, customers expect trailer brakes to stop the vehicle and trailer immediately. However, trailer brakes are not designed to act as primary service brakes; they are intended to assist the vehicle's brakes. Their primary function is to help reduce the overall stopping distance and maintain control.I recommend performing the override test and, if the issue persists, consider having the brakes inspected again for any mechanical faults.I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions.Best regards,
    Trailer Jacks Team
