Installation Instructions for Electric Trailer Brake Control Wiring Adapter

- Drill with 3/32” Bit (if needed)
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Locate the Vehicle’s Electric Brake Control Harness
- Locate the electric brake control harness:
- Underneath and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.
- The harness features a 5-pin connector matching the adapter plug.
Step 2: Secure the Ground Wire
- Find a suitable grounding point near the harness, such as:
- An existing ground stud, or
- If necessary, drill a 3/32” hole into a metal surface.
- Use the provided eyelet and screw to secure the white ground wire to the grounding point.
- CAUTION: Do not drill into the vehicle floor or bed.
- Clean dirt, rust, or rustproofing from the area before securing.
Step 3: Connect the Adapter
- Plug the brake control adapter into the 5-pin connector of the vehicle’s electric brake control harness.
- Follow the brake control manufacturer’s installation instructions to:
- Wire the adapter to the brake controller, and
- Mount the brake controller securely as instructed.
Final Step: Test the Installation
- Follow the test procedures provided by the brake controller manufacturer to confirm proper operation.

- Circuit Overload Can Cause Fires:
- DO NOT exceed the lower of:
- Vehicle towing capacity specified by the manufacturer, or
- Maximum Capacity: 4 axles / 8 brakes (24 amps).
- DO NOT exceed the lower of:
- Read and follow the vehicle’s owner’s manual and the brake control instructions.
Safety Notes:
