Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower Exhaust:
- Remove the rubber isolators from the metal pegs on the muffler and tailpipe using spray lubricant for easier removal.
-
Enlarge Frame Hole:
- Enlarge the passenger-side vehicle frame hole as shown in the provided diagram to allow the bolt and block to pass through.
-
Install Passenger-Side Fasteners:
- Use a bolt leader to fish a 7/16” carriage bolt and block through the enlarged frame hole and back down through the attachment hole. Leave the bolt leader in place for guiding the bolt in a later step.
-
Remove Existing Bolt:
- Remove the 8mm bolt from the passenger-side bottom of the frame rail. Return the bolt to the vehicle owner.
-
Position Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position above the tailpipe.
- Align the hitch sidearm with the bottom of the frame and guide the bolt leader through the hitch sidearm hole.
- Pull the carriage bolt through the hitch sidearm, remove the bolt leader, and loosely install the conical toothed washer and hex nut. Ensure the carriage bolt engages with the square hole in the block.

Attach Driver-Side Tow Hook:
- Place the large block with the round hole on the back side of the vehicle tow hook.
- Insert a 5/8” carriage bolt through the square hole in the hitch bracket, the tow hook opening, and the block. Loosely install the lock washer and hex nut.

Replace Passenger-Side Bolt:
- Replace the 8mm bolt removed in Step 4 with the supplied 8mm bolt, threading it through the hitch and into the vehicle weld nut.

Tighten All Fasteners:
- Torque the bolts to the following specifications:
- 7/16”-14 GR5 Carriage Bolt: 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M)
- 5/8”-11 GR5 Carriage Bolt: 150 Lb.-Ft. (203 N*M)
- 8mm Bolt: 25 Lb.-Ft. (37 N*M)
- Torque the bolts to the following specifications:

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the rear tailgate to access the bolts securing the taillights.
- Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the taillights on both the driver and passenger sides.
- Carefully pull the taillights away from the vehicle, ensuring not to damage the alignment pins.

Prepare the Wiring Area:
- Pull away the grommets on both the driver’s and passenger’s sides to access the interior of the vehicle.
- Locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness on both sides. Separate the connectors carefully without damaging the locking tabs. Clean the connector surfaces to remove dirt.

Remove Interior Panels:
- Inside the rear cargo area, temporarily remove all floor coverings, cargo trays, and the plastic threshold cover.
- Partially remove the rear interior trim panels on both the driver and passenger sides. Remove any necessary fasteners carefully to avoid damage.

Route the T-Connector:
- From inside the rear cargo area, route the T-Connector with yellow and brown wires through the grommet on the driver’s side.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the driver-side wiring connectors and lock it into place.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted, with locking tabs engaged. Reseat the grommet.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector end with the green wire to the passenger side behind the panels and along the threshold.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the T-Connector end with the green wire.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point on the driver’s side near the connectors.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire with the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Locate the red 12-gauge power wire from the T-Connector box on the driver’s side.
- Attach the provided black 12-gauge wire using the yellow butt connector.
- Route the black wire through the taillight opening, behind the bumper, along the vehicle’s frame, and into the engine compartment up to the battery.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Attach the ring terminal to the fuse holder and secure it to the vehicle’s positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire. Install the 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

Secure the Wiring:
- Secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness with the provided cable ties, ensuring it avoids areas that could pinch, cut, or melt the wire.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall all removed panels, trim, and taillight assemblies, ensuring no wires are pinched or cut.

Test the Installation:
- Test and verify the installation using a test light or trailer. Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
