Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower Exhaust (Optional):
- If needed, lower the exhaust by removing the rubber hanger from the hanger bracket.
- Use lubricant or soapy water to ease removal.

Remove Optional Tow Hook (Patriot Only):
- If the vehicle has an optional tow hook on the driver side, remove it.
- To reinstall the tow hook:
- Press/drive out existing knurled neck bolts.
- Drill out the holes using a 5/8" drill bit.
- Use the supplied M14 bolts to reinstall.

Trim Fascia:
- For 2011+ Jeep Patriot and Compass models, fascia trimming is required:
- Obtain vehicle owner approval before cutting.
- Trim a 2" vertical section from the bottom lip of the fascia.
- On Compass Rallye models, trim a 2-1/4" wide by 2" high section to allow clearance for the hitch receiver.
- For 2011+ Jeep Patriot and Compass models, fascia trimming is required:

Install Hitch:
- Place M14 hex bolts through the frame bushings from the outboard side.
- Raise the hitch into position and push the M14 bolts through the hitch frame brackets.
- Attach remaining hardware (washers, lock washers, and hex nuts) as shown in the instructions.

Reinstall Components:
- Raise the exhaust back into position and secure with rubber hangers.
Torque Specifications:
- Tighten all M14 fasteners to 100 ft-lb (136 N*m).

- (4) M14 x 120 x 2 Hex Bolts
- (2) 5/8" Conical Washers
- (2) 5/8" Lock Washers
- (4) M14 x 2.0 Hex Nuts
Safety Notes:
- Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Jeep Compass

- Trim Panel Remover
- 10mm Socket & Ratchet or 10mm Wrench
- Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
- 1/4” Socket
- Wire Crimpers
- Wire Cutters
- Phillips Head Screwdriver

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the tailgate and remove the vehicle's taillight assemblies by removing the two clips securing them in place.
- Carefully pry the taillight housing away from the vehicle, ensuring not to break the alignment tabs.

Disconnect the Wiring Harness:
- Locate the vehicle's wiring harness connectors behind the taillight housing.
- Unlock the red locking tab and disconnect the wire harness from both taillight sockets.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- On the driver's side, insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle's wiring connectors.
- Slide the red locking tab into the locked position.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector harness containing the green wire and the 4-flat connector through the opening behind the driver’s side taillight.
- Route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and the green wire underneath to the passenger side.
- Insert the green wire connector into the passenger-side wiring harness.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the adapter, such as the vehicle's frame or crossmember.
- Drill a 3/32” hole, clean the area, and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Verify the area behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Attach the black 12-gauge wire to the red power wire from the T-Connector black box.
- Route the black wire through the taillight socket, behind the bumper, and along the vehicle frame to the engine compartment.

Connect to the Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle's negative (-) battery cable.
- Attach the yellow fuse holder with the provided ring terminal to the vehicle’s positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable and insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
Warning:
- Ensure all connections are complete for the T-Connector to function properly. Test with a test light or trailer.

Mount the Black Box:
- Clean a flat area behind the driver's side taillight and mount the T-Connector black box using cable ties or the provided double-sided tape.
- Ensure the epoxy side of the module faces downward to prevent water buildup.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall the taillight assemblies and all items removed during installation, ensuring no wires are pinched or cut.

Secure the Wiring:
- Secure the remaining T-Connector harness with the provided cable ties, avoiding areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wiring.

Mount the 4-Flat Connector:
- Mount the 4-flat connector in a suitable location under the vehicle.
Specifications:
- Max. stop/turn light: 2 per side (4.2 amps)
- Max. tail lights: 7.5 amps
