Installation Instructions for Toyota Camry and Toyota Avalon

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Appearance Panel:
- Remove the appearance panel from the driver's side frame rails. Trim or remove the panel based on the vehicle model. Obtain the vehicle owner's approval before trimming.

Lower Exhaust:
- Remove two bolts from the exhaust hanger bracket and detach the rubber isolator on the forward side of the exhaust. Spray lubricant or soapy water on the hanger rod and rubber isolator for easier removal.
- Leave rubber isolators attached to the exhaust hanger bracket. For dual exhaust models, repeat this step on both sides.

Remove Heat Shields:
- Remove the heat shields and set them aside.

Position Hitch:
- Slide the hitch into position over the exhaust pipes and install M10 hex bolts for temporary support. Note:
- For hybrid models, remove the rearmost bolt from the battery bracket on the passenger side and attach the hitch using the supplied M8 x 40mm hex bolt. Drilling is required on the driver side.

Drill Holes:
- Use the hitch as a template to mark and center punch the holes on both sides. Drill 1/4" pilot holes first, followed by 1" access holes in the frame rail. Mark and drill the heat shield for the 7/16" carriage bolt.

Insert Fasteners:
- Insert the carriage bolt and spacer into the frame as shown, leaving the pull wire attached.

Reinstall Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position, threading the pull wire through the bracket. Install M10 bolts on both sides. Remove the pull wire and install conical washers and nuts.

Secure Forward Brackets:
- Install exhaust hanger brackets on both sides through the forward weld nut. Bend the tab on the exhaust hanger to allow the bracket to lay flat on the hitch bracket.

Reinstall Heat Shields:
- Attach the heat shields using the M6 bolts provided.

Raise Exhaust:
- Reinstall the exhaust system and secure with the rubber isolators.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all fasteners to the specified values:
- Tighten all 7/16"-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 lb-ft (68 N*m).
- Tighten all M8-1.25 CL10.9 fasteners to 27 lb-ft (37 N*m).
- Tighten all M10-1.25 CL8.8 fasteners to 38 lb-ft (52 N*m).
- Torque all fasteners to the specified values:

- (5) Conical Washer, 3/8"
- (2) Spacer Block, .915" x 3.000" x 10GA
- (2) Hex Nut, 7/16"-14
Safety Notes:
- Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Toyota RAV-4 and Toyota Avalon

- Trim Panel Remover
- 10mm & 14mm Socket & Ratchet or Wrench
- Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
- 1/4” Socket
- Wire Crimpers
- Wire Cutters
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Test Probe
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- For Toyota RAV-4:
- Open the rear hatch and temporarily remove the rear threshold plate, privacy screen, storage covers, and floor covering.
- Open the rear door and fold the rear seat forward.
- For Toyota Avalon:
- Open the trunk and temporarily remove the rear threshold plate.
- Partially remove the felt trunk liner behind the taillights.
- For Toyota RAV-4:

Remove Interior Trim Panels:
- Partially remove the rear interior trim panels on both driver and passenger sides to expose the taillight wiring.
- Remove the fasteners carefully to avoid damage to the clips or panels.

Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On both driver and passenger sides, locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness.
- Disconnect the harness carefully, ensuring not to damage the locking tabs.
- Clean the connectors to ensure proper contact.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the driver-side taillight wiring connectors.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted and secured with locking tabs.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector with the green wire along the rear threshold to the passenger side.
- Repeat Step 4 to connect the green wire to the passenger-side taillight connectors.

Mount the T-Connector Black Box:
- Locate a flat surface near the driver-side taillight wiring.
- Mount the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector or drill a 3/32” hole.
- Secure the white wire with the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Avoid drilling into the vehicle floor or any exposed surfaces. Verify what lies beneath the surface before drilling.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-Connector box.
- Attach the provided black wire using the supplied yellow butt connector.

Route the Power Wire:
- Route the black power wire through a grommet and along the exterior frame or existing wiring to the vehicle's engine compartment.
Warning:
- Avoid routing near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or areas that may damage the wire.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Attach the yellow fuse holder to the positive (+) battery cable using the provided ring terminal.
- Connect the black wire to the fuse holder using the yellow butt connector.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable and test the system with a test light or trailer.
Warning:
- All connections must be complete for the T-Connector to function properly.

Secure the Wiring:
- Secure the remaining harness with the provided cable ties, avoiding areas that could pinch, cut, or melt the wires.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Replace all removed components, including trim panels, threshold, cargo trays, and taillights.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the 4-flat connector into the driver’s side storage compartment and store it when not in use.
Specifications:
- Max. stop/turn light: 2 per side (4.2 amps)
- Max. tail lights: 7.5 amps
