Step-by-Step Instructions:

Install Carriage Bolt and Spacer:
- Place the carriage bolt and spacer onto the tow hook as shown in Figure 1.

Position Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position behind the end panel.
- Fasten the hitch to the tow hook with the conical washer and hex nut. Hand-tighten.

Attach Hardware:
- Using the provided pull wire, install the carriage bolt and spacer through the end panel and hitch.
- Secure with the conical washer and hex nut. Hand-tighten.

Tighten All Fasteners:
- Torque all 1/2” GR5 fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M).
Hardware List:
- (3) Carriage Bolts: 1/2”-13 x 1.75” GR5
- (3) Conical Washers: 1/2”
- (3) Hex Nuts: 1/2”-13
- (2) Spacers
- (1) Pull Wire: 1/2”
Safety Notes:
- Regularly inspect all fasteners and the hitch ball to ensure they are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Always observe safety precautions and wear eye protection when working under the vehicle.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Hyundai Elantra

- Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Open the Trunk:
- Remove the rear threshold plate temporarily.
- Partially remove the felt trunk liner on both sides to expose the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness.

Access the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- Locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness plugged directly into the taillight socket on both driver and passenger sides.
- Disconnect the wiring harness connectors, being careful not to damage the locking tabs.

Install the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the driver-side wiring connectors and lock it in place.
- Ensure connectors are fully inserted, with locking tabs secured.

Route and Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector end with the green wire under the felt trunk liner to the passenger-side taillight wiring harness.
- Repeat Step 3 for the passenger side.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector.
- Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces.

Prepare the Power Connection:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
- Attach the ring terminal to the vehicle’s positive (+) battery cable and connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.
Warning:
- Read and follow all warnings on the tow vehicle’s battery.

Route the Power Wire:
- Route the black wire out of the engine compartment along the exterior frame or through the interior, following existing wiring to the rear of the vehicle.
Warning:
- Avoid hot pipes, heat shields, and fuel tanks to prevent damage to the wire.

Connect the Black Wire to the T-Connector:
- Attach the black 12-gauge wire to the red wire from the T-Connector black box using the supplied yellow butt connector.

Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Install the 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
Warning:
- Ensure all connections are complete before testing the system. Test the installation with a test light or trailer.

Mount the Black Box and Secure Wiring:
- Mount the T-Connector black box on the driver’s side using the provided double-sided tape.
- Secure the T-Connector harness with the cable ties provided, avoiding areas that could pinch or damage the wires.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Replace the felt trunk liner, threshold plate, and other items removed during installation, ensuring no wires are pinched or cut.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Store the 4-flat connector in the spare tire compartment when not in use.
Specifications:
- Max. stop/turn light: 1 per side (2.1 amps)
- Max. tail lights: 5.6 amps
