Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Lower Fascia:
- Use an 8mm socket to remove (8) screws and (4) plastic expanding fasteners.
- Gently unclip and pull the fascia off, then set it aside for reinstallation later.

Lower Exhaust:
- Use a 10mm socket to remove the nuts from both rear exhaust hangers.
- Pry off one rubber exhaust hanger near the transaxle using exhaust removal pliers. Spray with soapy water for ease.

Remove Heat Shield:
- Use a 10mm socket to remove the (4) nuts securing the heat shield on the upper portion.

Trim Heat Shield:
- Measure and draw two lines on the heat shield:
- From the lower portion, measure 1/2” inward from the outermost screw holes.
- From the upper portion, draw a line 1/2” from the top.
- Use tin snips to cut along the lines.
- Measure and draw two lines on the heat shield:

Remove Nuts from Lower Bumper Studs:
- Use an 18mm socket to remove one nut from the lower bumper stud on each side.

Loosen Sensor Bar:
- Use a 10mm socket to loosen (2) nuts holding the sensor bar to the vehicle. Do not fully remove the sensor bar; loosening it will ease hitch installation.

Drill Holes:
- Raise the hitch into position and onto the lower bumper studs.
- Tighten the nuts to hold the hitch in place, then mark the locations of forward attachment holes using the hitch as a template.
- Lower the hitch and drill a 1” hole for each forward attachment point using a holesaw.

Fishwire Bolts:
- Using the reverse fishwire method, insert the carriage bolts and spacer blocks into the drilled holes.
- Leave the pull wires attached.

Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position over the lower bumper studs.
- Guide the pull wire ends through the forward attachment holes.
- Install (2) nuts onto the lower bumper studs and remove the pull wires.
- Secure the carriage bolts with conical washers (teeth side toward hitch) and 1/2” hex nuts.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all hitch fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m).

Reinstall Components:
- Reinstall all exhaust hangers, tighten the sensor bar, reinstall the trimmed heat shield, and reattach the lower fascia.
Hardware List:
- (2) 1/2”-13 x 1.75” Grade 5 Carriage Bolts
- (2) 1/2” Conical Washers
- (2) 1/4” x 1” x 3” Spacer Blocks
- (2) 1/2”-13 Grade 5 Hex Nuts

Safety Notes:
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Always wear safety glasses during installation.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for BMW X1

Tools Required:
- Trim Panel Remover
- 10mm Socket & Ratchet or 10mm Wrench
- Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
- 1/4” Socket
- Wire Crimpers
- Wire Cutters
- Phillips Head Screwdriver

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Taillights:
- Open the rear tailgate to access the bolts holding the taillights in place.
- On both the driver and passenger sides, remove two 10mm nuts from the taillight pocket.
- Carefully pull the taillights away from the vehicle, avoiding damage to alignment pins.

Disconnect the Wiring Harness:
- Disconnect the vehicle wiring harness from both taillight sockets.
- Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

Mount the Black Box Module:
- Determine a suitable mounting point behind the rear bumper fascia on the driver’s side.
- Use the provided double-sided tape to mount the black box.
- Ensure the trailer’s wire harness has adequate length to reach this point.
Warning: Mount the module with the epoxy side facing down to prevent water buildup.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Fish the T-Connector end with yellow wires up between the bumper and the vehicle body into the taillight pocket.
- Plug the T-Connector with yellow wire between the mating plugs on the driver’s side taillight socket and wiring harness.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector end with the green wire and the 4-flat connector underneath the bumper.
- Guide the T-Connector end with the green wire up through the opening on the passenger side.
- Plug it into the taillight socket, repeating the process from Step 4.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point on the driver’s side near the connectors.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution: Verify the area behind any surface before drilling to prevent damage or injury.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-Connector box.
- Attach the provided black 12-gauge wire and route it along the exterior frame or follow the existing wiring to the engine compartment.
- Avoid areas that may pinch or damage the wire.

Connect to the Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Attach the ring terminal from the fuse holder to the Positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the yellow butt connector.

Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder and test the installation with a test light or trailer.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall the taillight assemblies and any other removed components, ensuring wires are not pinched or damaged.

Secure the Wiring Harness:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the T-Connector harness.
- Avoid areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wire.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Store the 4-flat connector in a suitable location when not in use.
