Installation Instructions for Trailer Hitch

Tools Required:
- Ratchet
- Torque Wrench
- Safety Glasses

- Flat Head Screwdriver
- Lubricant or Soapy Water
- Pry Bar
- Exhaust Removal Pliers (Optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Remove Plastic Plugs:
- Remove (3) plastic plugs from existing holes in the frame rails using a flat head screwdriver if necessary.
- Set the plugs aside for the vehicle owner.
2. Lower the Exhaust:
- Lower the exhaust system at the (3) rubber isolators.
- Tip: Spray lubricant or soapy water on the metal hanger rod and the rubber isolator to ease removal. Use a pry bar or exhaust hanger tool if necessary.
3. Install Fasteners:
- Rear Fasteners:
- Insert the coiled end of the pull wire through the rearmost hole in the frame and out the access hole (forward hole).
- Slide a spacer onto the pull wire and attach a carriage bolt.
- Feed the spacer and bolt into the access hole and out the rearmost hole.
- Repeat on both sides.
- Forward Fasteners:
- Attach a carriage bolt to the pull wire and slide a spacer onto the pull wire.
- Insert the bolt into the forward-most access hole, followed by the spacer, and pull them out of the access hole.
- Leave the pull wires attached.
4. Raise the Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position and guide the pull wires through the corresponding slots on the hitch.
- Place a spacer between the frame and the hitch bracket at the forward attachment points as shown.
- Install a conical washer and use it to hold the bolt in place, then remove the pull wires and attach the hex nuts.
- Tighten to hold the hitch in place. Repeat on all fasteners.
5. Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all 7/16" GR5 fasteners to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m).
6. Reattach the Exhaust:
- Raise the exhaust back into position and reattach the hangers disconnected in Step 2.
- Tip: Use lubricant or soapy water to aid in reinstallation.

- 4 × Spacers (.250 × .875 × 3")
- 4 × Conical Washers (7/16")
- 4 × Hex Nuts (7/16"-14 GR2)
- 2 × Spacers with Round Holes (.250 × 1.5 × 2")
- 4 × Pull Wires (7/16")
Safety Notes:
- Always wear safety glasses during installation.
- Periodically inspect the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the hitch ball are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball before use.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for Modulite® HD Protector Vehicle Wiring

- Wire Strippers/Wire Crimpers

- Socket & Ratchet Set
- Drill with 3/32” Drill Bit
- Double-Sided Tape
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Tow Vehicle Inputs - Determination:
- Disconnect and isolate the vehicle's negative battery terminal.
- Warning: Read and follow all warnings and instructions on the tow vehicle's battery.
- Splice the tow harness input wires to the vehicle as determined.
- Caution: Use appropriate gauge wire splices. Blue taps are for 16-18 gauge wires only.
Harness Installation:
- Determine the mounting location of the module and secure it using the double-sided tape provided.
- Warning: Mount the module with the epoxy side pointed towards the ground to prevent water buildup.
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the module, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole to secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or personal injury.
- Route the power wire to the vehicle’s positive battery terminal. Use the provided fuse holder, butt connector, and ring terminal to connect to the battery.
- Do not insert the 15 amp fuse yet.
- Caution: Ensure the module is connected to a constant power source and avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or pinch points.
Completion:
- Secure the harness with cable ties provided to prevent damage or rattling.
- Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable.
- Insert the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder and close the cap.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Check each function independently and in combination.

- No Power to 4-Flat: Check the chassis ground and ensure the module is properly connected to a constant power source.
