Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Remove Taillights:
- Open the tailgate and remove plastic covers near the taillights using a flat head screwdriver.
- X3 Models (2011-2017): Remove hex nuts securing the taillights.
- X3 Models (2018+): Remove bolts behind the interior cargo panel.
- X4 Models: Remove additional screws and grommets to disconnect the taillights.
2. Remove Underbody Panel:
- Use 8 mm and 10 mm sockets to remove screws and hex nuts from the underbody panel. Set the panel aside.
3. Remove Fascia:
- Remove screws beneath the taillights and along the bottom edge of the fascia.
- Drill out plastic rivets securing the wheel well trim and remove screws hidden behind it.
- Carefully remove the fascia using trim tools, and disconnect the wiring harness before setting it aside.
4. Remove Bumper Beam:
- Detach sensor wiring and exhaust hanger brackets using a 13 mm socket.
- Use an 18 mm socket with a 6" extension to remove hex flange nuts securing the bumper beam.
5. Install Hitch and Bumper Beam:
- Apply blue thread locker to all studs.
- Ensure foam gaskets are intact; apply silicone sealant if necessary.
- Align the hitch and bumper beam, securing them with existing M12 hex flange nuts.
- Torque all M12 fasteners to 68 lb-ft (92 N·m).
- Reattach exhaust hangers and torque hex nuts to 25 lb-ft (34 N·m).
6. Trim and Reinstall Fascia:
- Trim the fascia per the guidelines provided in the installation manual using a utility knife and marker.
- Reinstall the fascia, wheel well trim, and taillights.

Safety Notes:
- Wear safety glasses during installation.
- Regularly check that all fasteners and the hitch ball are securely tightened.
- Plug any holes in the trunk pan or body panels if the hitch is removed to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering the vehicle.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
- Replace any damaged hitch components or hitch ball before use.

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for BMW X3

- Trim Panel Remover
- 10mm Socket & Ratchet or Wrench
- Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
- Wire Crimpers
- Wire Cutters
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Test Probe
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Open the Hatch and Remove Interior Panels:
- Open the hatch and partially remove the plastic threshold cover, side panels, and cargo trays.
- Remove the rear interior trim panels on both the driver and passenger sides.
- Use a trim panel remover tool to detach the panels without damaging the clips or parts.

Locate the Vehicle Wiring Harness:
- On both the driver and passenger sides, locate the taillight wiring harness behind the panels.
- Disconnect the wiring harness carefully, ensuring not to break the locking tabs. Ensure all connectors are clean and free of dirt.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-One® Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors.
- Lock the connectors into place, ensuring they are fully inserted with locking tabs secure.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-One® Connector end with the green wire down the threshold and across to the passenger side.
- Connect the T-Connector end with the green wire between the passenger-side wiring connectors.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as the vehicle frame or crossmember.
- Clean the grounding area to remove dirt and rustproofing.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

Route the Power Wire:
- Locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-One® Connector box.
- Attach the provided black wire and route it along the frame rail to the vehicle’s battery.
- Avoid hot pipes, heat shields, or other areas that may pinch or break the wire.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the Negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder and attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.
Warning: Follow all warnings printed on the tow vehicle’s battery.

Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer.

Mount the Black Box Module:
- Locate a flat, out-of-the-way surface near the installation area and mount the black box module using the provided double-sided tape.

Secure the Wiring Harness:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the wiring harness, avoiding areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wire.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall all panels, trim, and components removed during installation, ensuring no wires are pinched or damaged.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- When not in use, store the 4-flat connector in the rear cargo area. When in use, pull it through the hatch and close the door.
Caution: Avoid pinching the harness in the door latch.
