Do you need to remove or lower the muffler to install the hitch?

Hi, thanks for your question. According to the instructions for Draw-Tite Hitch 76634, some models do not require lowering the exhaust. I did some research and found that it is possible to wiggle this hitch in without needing to lower the exhaust. However, please be prepared to do it just in case, as it can make the installation easier and give you more room to work with. Since your Toyota RAV4 or Lexus SUV is relatively new, the rubber exhaust hangers should still be fresh and not brittle, so there is no need to worry about whether they can go back on and perform as they should.
