Installation Instructions for 2021-Current Ford Bronco Sport

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Remove Taillights:

    • Open the tailgate.
    • Use plastic trim tools to remove the plastic cover near the taillight.
    • Use a 10 mm socket to remove two nuts holding the cover to the taillight housing.
    • Gently pull the taillight rearward and disconnect the wiring. Set aside.
  2. Remove Fascia:

    • a. Remove four screws from the underside center of the fascia using a 7 mm socket.
    • b. Remove two screws from the outer bottom edge of the rear bumper fascia near the wheel well using a 7 mm socket.
    • c. Remove five push rivets from the inside of the rear wheel well using a flat head screwdriver.
    • d. Remove one push rivet located below the taillight using a flat head screwdriver.
    • e. Pull back the wheel well trim and remove one screw using an 8 mm socket.
    • f. Use a plastic trim tool to partially remove the fascia by gently pulling rearward, releasing clips holding the lower portion of the wheel well trim. Do not remove the top portion of the trim.
    • g. Disconnect all wiring harnesses from the fascia and set it aside.
  3. Remove Fascia Support Bracket:

    • Use an 8 mm socket to remove six screws from the fascia support bracket. Set aside for reinstallation.
  4. Remove Bumper Beam:

    • Use a 15 mm socket to remove eight M10 flange hex nuts. Return the bumper beam to the owner. Keep the M10 hex flange nuts for hitch installation.
  5. Install Hitch:

    • Raise the hitch into position, aligning holes with the studs in the end panel.
    • Loosely reinstall the four existing M10 hex flange nuts onto the existing studs.
    • Use the provided hardware to install the M10x1.50 bolts, conical washers, and additional M10 hex flange nuts onto the remaining four locations.
  6. Tighten Fasteners:

    • Tighten all M10x1.50 fasteners to 42 ft-lbs (57 Nm) using a torque wrench.
  7. Trim Fascia:

    • Measure and mark the center of the fascia.
    • Use a utility knife to cut a 5” x 4” notch in the bottom of the fascia. Ensure the area is clear of electrical wiring before trimming.
  8. Reinstall Support Bracket and Fascia:

    • Reinstall the fascia support bracket.
    • Reconnect all wiring and reinstall the fascia using the original hardware.
  9. Reinstall Taillights:

    • Reinstall the taillights and taillight covers using the fasteners removed earlier.

Hardware List:

  • (4) Bolt M10x1.50x35 CL10.9

  • Always wear safety glasses during installation.
  • Ensure proper torque to keep the hitch securely mounted.
  • Periodically check that all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
  • Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for Ford Bronco Sport

Part Numbers:

Tools Required:

  • Trim Panel Remover
  • 10mm Socket & Ratchet or Wrench
  • Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
  • Wire Crimpers
  • Wire Cutters
  • Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • Test Probe

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Open the Hatch:

    • Locate the vehicle wiring inside the rear cargo area by partially removing the plastic threshold cover, side panels, and cargo trays.
    • Expose the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness.
    • Use a 10mm socket or wrench to remove the bolts securing the threshold and cargo trays.
  2. Remove the Taillights:

    • On both the driver’s and passenger’s sides, remove the taillights to access the wiring.
    • Slit the grommet to allow for the T-Connector wiring to pass through.
  3. Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:

    • Insert the T-One® Connector end with the yellow wire between the driver-side wiring connectors.
    • Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs securely engaged.
  4. Mount the Black Box:

    • Mount the T-One® Connector black box on the driver’s side using the provided double-sided tape.
    • Secure the remaining harness with the provided cable ties to prevent damage or rattling.
  5. Ground the White Wire:

    • Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing ground stud.
    • If necessary, drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
    • Clean the grounding area of dirt and rustproofing before securing.

    Caution: Verify the area behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

  6. Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:

    • Route the connector containing the green wire along the threshold to the passenger side.
    • Insert the T-One® Connector end with the green wire between the passenger-side wiring connectors.
  7. Route the Power Wire:

    • Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
    • Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
    • Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable and secure it.
    • Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the yellow butt connector provided.
  8. Install the Power Wire:

    • Route the black 12-gauge wire along the vehicle’s frame to the engine compartment.
    • Avoid routing near hot pipes, heat shields, or areas that may pinch or damage the wire.
  9. Connect the Power Wire to the Black Box:

    • Attach the black 12-gauge wire to the black power wire located on the T-One® Connector black box using the provided yellow butt connector.
  10. Reconnect the Battery and Test:

    • Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable.
    • Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
    • Test the installation using a test light or trailer.
  11. Reassemble the Vehicle:

    • Reinstall all trim panels, storage covers, and other components removed during installation.
    • Ensure no wires are pinched or damaged.
  12. Store the 4-Flat Connector:

    • Route the 4-flat connector through the driver’s side trim panel into the storage compartment and store it when not in use.

  • Overloading circuits can cause fires. Do not exceed stated product ratings.
