Installation Instructions for Acura MDX and Honda Pilot
(Fits with mini spare tire. Will not fit with full-size spare.)

- Wrenches: 10mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm
- Drill Bits: None
Wiring Access Location:
- SUV3
Notes:
- A transmission cooler and power steering cooler are required for maximum towing capacity. Refer to the vehicle owner’s manual for details.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
For 2001-2003 Acura MDX and 2001+ Honda Pilot:

Remove Tow Hook:
- Remove the tow hook from the driver’s side of the vehicle.
- Return the hook and fasteners to the vehicle owner.

Lower the Exhaust:
- Detach three (3) rubber muffler hangers to lower the exhaust.

Position the Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position and align it with the existing weldnuts on the frame.
- Secure the hitch using the provided fasteners.

Reinstall Exhaust:
- Reattach the muffler hangers.

Adjust Heat Shield (if needed):
- If an exhaust rattle occurs, trim the rearward exhaust heat shield between the cross tube and muffler.
For 2004 Acura MDX:

Remove Tow Hook:
- Follow the same steps as outlined above.

Remove Fascia Covering:
- Remove the fascia under-covering by detaching bolts and clips.
- Return the cover and fasteners to the vehicle owner.

Lower the Exhaust:
- Detach four (4) rubber muffler hangers to lower the exhaust.

Position the Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position and secure it using the provided fasteners.

Reinstall Exhaust:
- Reattach the muffler hangers.
Hardware List:
- (6) M12 x 1.25 x 35mm CL8.8 Hex Bolts
- (6) 1/2" Conical Washers
Torque Specifications:
- Tighten all M12 x 1.25 CL8.8 fasteners to 68 lb-ft (92 N·m).
Safety Notes:
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Follow all safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle, and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
