Step-by-Step Instructions:
-
Remove the Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the tailgate and remove the vehicle’s taillight assemblies by removing the two T30 Torx bolts on each side.
-
Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On both the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle, locate the taillight wiring harness with a connection point matching the T-One® Connector ends.
- Carefully separate the connectors, ensuring not to break the locking tabs. Clean all connector surfaces.
-
Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-One® Connector end with the yellow and brown wires behind the fascia supports and along the existing wire harness to the taillight pocket.
- Insert the T-One® Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock into place.
-
Mount the Black Box Module:
- Mount the T-One® Connector black box using the provided double-sided tape.
- Secure the remainder of the T-One® Connector harness with the provided cable ties to prevent damage or rattling, avoiding areas that may cut or pinch the wire.
Warning: Ensure the epoxy side of the module faces downward to prevent water accumulation.
-
Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole.
- Secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw, cleaning dirt and rustproofing from the area beforehand.
Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces.
-
Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the harness containing the green wire underneath the vehicle and up through the opening between the bumper and body to the passenger’s taillight pocket.
- Repeat Step 3 for the passenger side using the T-One® Connector end with the green wire.
-
Reinstall the Taillight Assemblies:
- Reinstall the taillight housings, positioning the vehicle wiring harness between the housing and the body.
-
Route the Power Wire:
- Starting at the front of the vehicle, route the black 12-gauge wire rearward along the frame rail, avoiding hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or areas that may pinch or damage the wire.
Warning: If routing through a grommet and along the exterior, avoid hot pipes, heat shields, or other hazardous points.
-
Connect the Power Wire to the Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder and attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.
-
Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder and test the installation using a test light or trailer.
-
Secure the Wiring Harness:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the remainder of the harness, avoiding areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wire.
-
Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall all panels, thresholds, storage covers, and other items removed during installation, ensuring no wires are pinched or damaged.
-
Mount the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the 4-flat harness underneath and to the center of the vehicle.
- Mount the 4-flat end in an accessible location using a bracket or electrical box (not included).
